Terms of Use
Effective 17 October 2026 · Version 2026-10-19b
- Version 2026-10-19b (19 October 2026): Editorial update of the Terms of Use: punctuation only (dashes replaced by commas, colons and full stops). The meaning of the Terms is unchanged, and the Privacy Policy and the EULA are unchanged.
- Version 2026-10-19 (19 October 2026): Privacy Policy only: translation and speech models are now downloaded exclusively from SpeakGlide's own model storage (models.speakglide.com: Amazon S3 in Switzerland, delivered through Amazon CloudFront) using a signed model list from speakglide.com. Hugging Face is no longer contacted and was removed from the list of recipients. The Terms of Use and the EULA are unchanged.
- Version 2026-10-17 (17 October 2026): A SpeakGlide account (Google or Apple sign-in) is now required to use the apps; guest use without an account is no longer offered. Free trial extended from 7 to 14 days of Pro for every new account. Terms: in the desktop apps from this website the trial starts when you create your account, needs no payment details and ends on its own (one per account and per Google or Apple sign-in); in the iOS and Android apps it is the App Store / Google Play free trial of Pro monthly, which renews unless cancelled before it ends. Privacy Policy: the server stores the trial dates and a keyed hash of the Google or Apple identifier that used it (kept 3 years, also after account deletion) to prevent repeat trials. The EULA text is unchanged.
- Version 2026-10-15c (15 October 2026): Website purchases are now sold through Link, LLC (Stripe Managed Payments) as reseller and merchant of record: Link/Stripe handle payment, VAT/sales tax, receipts, refunds (including within 60 days), disputes and transaction support; statement descriptor LINK.COM*; prices include VAT where applicable. Privacy Policy updated for Link/Stripe as independent controllers. App Store and Google Play purchases are unchanged.
- Version 2026-10-15b (15 October 2026): Clarified warranty disclaimer (as is / as available), accuracy of automated output and unsuitable uses, availability, third-party services, liability limits (cap: fees paid in the prior 12 months, or CHF 50), indemnity and consent for recordings, force majeure, governing law and consumer protections, class action waiver where lawful, and severability; Privacy Policy: security limits and user-entered content. Mandatory consumer and data-protection rights are unchanged.
- Version 2026-10-15 (15 October 2026): Product renamed from Werbatim to SpeakGlide, no change to data processing. Website, domain and contact email are now speakglide.com and info@speakglide.com.
- Version 2026-10-13 (13 October 2026): Previous version.
1. Acceptance
These Terms govern the SpeakGlide marketing website at https://speakglide.com and the SpeakGlide mobile application for iOS and Android as described on that site (together, the “Service”). The operator is:
Stefano CossiPrivate individual
Rue de l'Observatoire 2
2000 Neuchâtel
Switzerland
Email: info@speakglide.com
By using the website or installing the app you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. To create an account you must also explicitly accept these Terms, the Privacy Policy and the End User License Agreement by ticking a separate box for each, and confirm that you are at least 16 years old (section 3); no account is created without that acceptance. We keep a record of the versions you accepted and when. Use of the store binary is also subject to the End User License Agreement.
2. What the website is, and what it is not
The current Next.js codebase is a marketing site plus an account and billing backend: Google/Apple sign-in, PostgreSQL, Stripe Checkout and webhooks, and an entitlement API the mobile app can call. It does not ship desktop-app downloads. Store buttons still link to the App Store and Google Play (src/lib/links.ts).
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create a SpeakGlide account or to buy a plan. When you create an account (on the website or in the app), and whenever you accept a new version of these Terms, you must explicitly confirm that you are 16 or older; that confirmation is stored with your acceptance record. If you are under 16, do not create an account. If you are 16 or older but under the age of majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has agreed to these Terms and to any purchase. The Service is not directed at children under 16; if we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we may close it and delete its data. You represent that you have capacity to contract in your jurisdiction. If you use the Service for an organisation, you represent that you may bind it.
4. Description of the Service
As described on this website, SpeakGlide offers:
- On-device speech-to-text using a bundled NVIDIA Parakeet model
- Local storage of recordings and transcripts
- Optional iOS keyboard and Android overlay to paste transcripts into other apps
- Optional on-device translation on the Pro plan (downloadable models)
- A custom Dictionary of words (names, brands, technical terms) corrected on the device after transcription: up to 5 entries on Free, up to 200 on Core and Pro (including lifetime). After a downgrade, existing entries are kept and stay active, but new ones cannot be added until you are under the limit
The Dictionary stays on your device. Only while you are signed in is it also stored on our server, encrypted, solely to sync it between your devices; you can export or delete it at any time (see the Privacy Policy, section 6.2). Audio always stays on the device.
Core recording and transcription are described as working offline once you have signed in. Network use still occurs for the required sign-in in the app, plan and licence checks, store purchases, and model downloads.
5. Accounts
You need an account to use the app: during setup the app asks you to sign in with Google or Apple, and every new account starts with the 14-day Pro trial described in section 7. Guest use without an account is not offered. Website sign-in also uses Google or Apple. The desktop app may open this website (/signin) in the system browser and finish with a one-time code on localhost. We store the provider subject (sub), and email/name if shared, so a purchase on this site is tied to the same account the app signs in with. An account is created only after you accept the current Terms, Privacy Policy and EULA (see section 1). Each account has its own Dictionary; the app never merges the Dictionary of one account, or of signed-out use, into another. Delete the account from /account.
6. Licence
The compiled app obtained from the Apple App Store or Google Play is licensed under the EULA. Source code, if published on GitHub, is governed by the licence file in that repository, not by a trademark right to the SpeakGlide name. Website content and branding remain the operator’s.
You keep all rights in your recordings and transcripts. This site does not upload or claim a licence over that content.
7. Plans, subscriptions, lifetime licences, and trials
The pricing page currently lists:
- Free: limited session length and Voice Memory note count; overlay paste of the first 30 characters; Speak it and file transcription; mobile only
- Core: unlimited mobile dictation and related features; monthly, annual, or lifetime price shown on the page
- Pro: Core plus translation and advertised desktop support; monthly, annual, or lifetime price shown on the page
Every new account gets one 14-day Pro trial. In the macOS, Windows and Linux apps downloaded from this website it starts when you create your account, needs no payment details, and access reverts to Free when it ends unless you purchase; it is limited to one per account and per Google or Apple sign-in, and an account that already had a trial or a subscription is not eligible. In the iOS and Android apps the trial is the App Store or Google Play introductory free trial of the Pro monthly subscription: you confirm it in the store's purchase sheet, the store's eligibility rules apply, and it renews automatically at the price shown unless you cancel in the store's subscription settings before the trial ends (section 7.1). Cross-device Voice Memory sync is not sold and is not advertised as available.
Displayed amounts are marketing figures in EUR (Core €4.99/€39; Pro €10.99/€79; Pro lifetime €199). App Store and Play prices may differ by region. Prices include VAT, GST or sales tax where applicable. Web checkout is completed on a Stripe-hosted page (section 7.2).
7.1 Auto-renewal
If you buy a subscription through the App Store, Google Play, or Stripe on this website, that subscription renews automatically at the end of the period (monthly or annual) unless you cancel before renewal (store settings, or the Stripe customer portal from /account). A lifetime price is a one-time licence for the advertised features. It is not an auto-renewing subscription.
7.2 How you pay today
- Apple App Store: in-app purchase / subscription via StoreKit, subject to Apple’s terms. We receive transaction identifiers so the same plan is on your SpeakGlide account on every device.
- Google Play: Play Billing, subject to Google’s terms. We receive purchase-token identifiers for the same account-linking purpose.
- Website (Stripe Managed Payments): after sign-in,
/api/checkoutsends you to a checkout page hosted by Stripe. Web purchases are sold to you through Link, LLC (“Sold through Link”), a Stripe company that acts as reseller and merchant of record: it is the seller of record for the payment, calculates, collects and remits VAT, GST or sales tax where it is responsible for it, and sends receipts and invoices from Link. Checkout may show the price converted into your local currency. Your card or bank statement shows the charge asLINK.COM*followed by the SpeakGlide descriptor. Payment, receipts, payment-method changes, disputes and transaction support are handled by Link/Stripe under their own terms (Link terms, Stripe legal). The operator remains the provider of the SpeakGlide software and features, and these Terms and the EULA govern your licence and use.
7.3 Refunds
- App Store: request refunds from Apple under Apple’s refund policy. The operator cannot process Apple IAP refunds in this website.
- Google Play: request refunds from Google under Google Play’s refund policy.
- Website (Link/Stripe): you can request a refund from info@speakglide.com or from Link support. Link/Stripe may issue refunds, including within 60 days of the purchase and to apply mandatory cooling-off periods, and handles chargebacks and disputes. A refund ends the paid plan it relates to. Mandatory Swiss/EU/UK consumer rights for distance contracts are not affected. You can manage or cancel a web subscription in the customer portal from
/accountor on the Link website.
EU/EEA/UK consumers may have a statutory withdrawal right for digital content, which can be lost if performance begins with your prior express consent and acknowledgement. Apply the store’s or Link’s consumer flow.
8. Your responsibilities
- Use the Service only as permitted by law
- Do not record others without any consent your local law requires
- You are responsible for the content of recordings and transcripts
- Do not attack, scrape abusively, or reverse engineer the Service except as allowed by applicable law or by the source-code licence
- Do not use the Service to spread malware
9. Intellectual property
The SpeakGlide name, wordmark, and brand assets are used on this site and are not licensed to you except as needed to use the Service. Third-party models keep their own licences (see the Privacy Policy and EULA).
10. Third parties
Depending on what you use, third parties may include:
- Apple (App Store, StoreKit, optional Sign in with Apple)
- Google (Play Store, Play Billing, optional Google Sign-In)
- GitHub (private source repositories; not linked from the public site)
- Hugging Face or another model host, if the app downloads translation packs
- Stripe and Link, LLC (web checkout as merchant of record, receipts, refunds and customer portal)
- The website and database host: Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL (AWS), data stored in AWS region Europe (Zurich), Switzerland
Their terms and privacy notices apply to their processing.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SERVICE (INCLUDING THE WEBSITE, THE APP, ITS MODELS AND ALL OUTPUT) IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY. This includes, without limitation, implied warranties of merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, title and non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free or free of harmful components, or that defects will be corrected.
11.1 Transcription, translation and other automated output
Transcripts, translations, dictionary corrections and any other output are generated automatically by machine-learning models and may be incomplete, inaccurate, mistranslated or misattributed, especially with background noise, accents, technical vocabulary or several speakers. You must check every output yourself before you rely on it, send it or act on it.
The Service is not designed or intended for medical, clinical, legal, court, financial, safety-critical or emergency purposes, for situations where errors could cause death, personal injury, or significant property or environmental damage, or as an accessibility aid on which a person depends without human review. Do not use it to contact emergency services. You use the Service and its output at your own risk and you are solely responsible for decisions you make based on it.
11.2 Availability
No uptime, availability or service level is guaranteed. The website, account and billing backend, sign-in and model downloads may be interrupted, limited, changed or discontinued at any time, including for maintenance, security or reasons beyond the operator’s control. Features may change between versions.
11.3 Third-party services, devices and stores
The operator is not responsible for, and gives no warranty about, services, software or hardware it does not control, including the Apple App Store, Google Play, Stripe, Google and Apple sign-in, model hosts such as Hugging Face, the hosting provider, your operating system, keyboard and accessibility frameworks, other apps into which you paste text, your device and your network. Their availability, changes, errors and terms are their providers’ responsibility.
Mandatory rights. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits (a) liability for intent (wilful misconduct) or gross negligence, (b) liability for death or personal injury, (c) liability for fraud, (d) liability under mandatory product-liability law, (e) your statutory rights as a consumer, including the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and digital services under the law of your EU/EEA or UK country of residence, or (f) any other liability or right that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law. Where such law applies, the limitations in these Terms apply only as far as it allows.
12. Limitation of liability
Subject to the mandatory rights in section 11 and to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- The operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, business, contracts, opportunity, goodwill or reputation, however caused, even if advised of the possibility
- The operator is not liable for loss, corruption or disclosure of recordings, transcripts, notes, dictionary entries or other data stored on your device or exported by you. Content stays on your device and you are responsible for keeping your own backups
- The operator is not liable for damage caused by inaccurate output (section 11.1), by interruptions (section 11.2), by third-party services, devices or stores (section 11.3), by your breach of these Terms, or by unauthorised access to your device or account that is not caused by the operator’s fault
- Where liability for slight (simple) negligence can be excluded under applicable law, it is excluded. Where it cannot (for example, breach of an essential contractual obligation under certain EU laws), liability is limited to damage typical and foreseeable at the time the contract was concluded
- The operator’s total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Service, these Terms, the EULA and the Privacy Policy, whether in contract, tort or otherwise, is limited to the total fees you actually paid for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim or, if you paid nothing in that period (for example, Free or trial use), CHF 50
These limitations also benefit the operator’s auxiliary persons (Art. 101 Swiss Code of Obligations) and apply even if a limited remedy fails of its essential purpose. They do not apply to the liabilities and rights listed in the “Mandatory rights” paragraph of section 11.
13. Indemnity
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you will indemnify and hold harmless Stefano Cossi against all third-party claims, losses, damages, fines, costs and reasonable legal fees arising from (a) your use or misuse of the Service, (b) your content, (c) recordings of other people made without the consent or notice that applicable law requires, (d) your use of output, or (e) your breach of these Terms or of law. You are solely responsible for informing and obtaining the consent of every person you record or transcribe, and for complying with recording, wiretapping, privacy and data-protection laws that apply to you. If you are a consumer, this indemnity applies only to the extent you are at fault and as permitted by mandatory consumer law.
14. Termination
You may stop using the website at any time. You may delete the app and cancel store subscriptions in the store settings. The operator may suspend access if you materially breach these Terms. Local content remains on your device until you delete it. Website accounts can be deleted from /account (personal data is erased; anonymised billing records are kept for 10 years under Swiss law). Store subscriptions must still be cancelled in the store.
15. Changes
The operator may change the Service or these Terms. The effective date and version number will be updated. If you have an account, we ask you to accept the new version before you continue to use the account; if you do not accept it, you may delete the account. For use while not signed in (for example visiting this website), continued use after the new date constitutes acceptance, except where mandatory law requires a different process.
16. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the Service (including non-contractual disputes) are governed by the substantive laws of Switzerland, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). Exclusive place of jurisdiction is the seat (domicile) of the operator in Neuchâtel, Switzerland.
If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of habitual residence, and you may also bring proceedings in, and may only be sued in, the courts that mandatory consumer law makes available to you (for example, the courts of your country of residence in the EU/EEA, the UK or Switzerland under Art. 32 Swiss Code of Civil Procedure).
16.1 Individual claims; class action waiver
Where permitted by applicable law, claims may be brought only on an individual basis and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, consolidated or representative action. This waiver does not apply where it is prohibited, and it does not limit any representative or collective action that mandatory law (including the EU Representative Actions Directive 2020/1828) makes available to consumers or consumer organisations.
16.2 Force majeure
The operator is not liable for any failure or delay caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, epidemics, war, terrorism, civil unrest, government action, power, internet or telecommunications failures, cyber-attacks, and outages or changes of hosting, store, payment or sign-in providers. Mandatory consumer rights are not affected.
17. Entire agreement, severability and language
These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the EULA are the entire agreement for the Service. If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, it is limited or replaced by the valid provision that comes closest to its intent, to the extent permitted by law, and the remaining provisions remain in full force. For consumers, an invalid provision is replaced by the applicable statutory rule. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the EULA are published in English only; links from other languages lead to the English text.
